Company History

Destilerías Marí Mayans was founded in 1880 by Juan Marí Mayans. As a lover of aromatic and medicinal plants, and a student of their properties, he developed a clear vocation for the manufacture of drinks and liquers at that time.

It was through this careful collection of formulas and recipes from the past century, and intensive study of the effects and benefits of the island's wild aromatic plants, that Juan Marí Mayans was able to create the wonderful liquers for which Destilerías Marí Mayans is so well known.

Today, his 5th generation heirs continue to keep up the old tradition and craftsmanship, combining them with modern technology to offer these unique and unchanging drinks.

Company products

The traditional local liquers, Hierbas Ibicencas, Frígola and Palo, are still produced by Marí Mayans using the very same ingredients selected by Juan Marí Mayans himself, over 100 years ago.

Of course special mention also has to be made of Marí Mayans Absinthe Spirit Drink, which has been produced since the founding of the distillery in approximately 1858 in Formentera.

Having been awarded many international prizes for quality and excellence, Marí Mayans Absinthe Spirit Drink has established itself internationally as the most palatable and interesting materialisation of the drink's long and famous history.

Still produced exclusively on Ibiza in their own factory in Puig d'en Valls, Marí Mayans' liquers and spirits have quite simply become a part of Ibicencan culture.
